Burial in a National Cemetery

Eligible veterans may receive burial in a VA national cemetery, including opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, and a government headstone or marker.

Military Funeral Honors

Qualified veterans may receive military honors at their funeral service, including the folding and presentation of the American flag and the playing of Taps.

Burial Flags

The VA provides a United States burial flag to honor the memory of a veteran's service.

Headstones & Markers

Government-furnished headstones, markers, or medallions may be available for eligible veterans buried in private or national cemeteries.

County Indigent Burial Program

Assistance may be available through the county indigent burial program to help cover burial expenses. Eligible applicants may qualify for up to $1,000 based on income and county program requirements. Applications for assistance are completed through our office, and our staff is available to help guide families through the process.
