VETERANS TRANSPORTATION
The Fairfield County Veterans Service Office is proud to serve you, the veteran, with transportation to the various VA medical centers for your medical appointments.
The Fairfield County Veterans Service Commission implemented the following rules.
The van driver is not authorized to and cannot change any of these rules.
You must notify the Veterans Service Office immediately after you receive your appointment date from the VA facility, if you desire transportation. (DO NOT make arrangements with the van driver.) This also includes cancellations.
All veterans will be scheduled for transportation on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS, regardless of who had their appointments first with the VA.
You must call the Veterans Service Office before your scheduled appointment to verify your appointment. This is your responsibility….not the responsibility of The Veterans Service Office.
The driver will contact you the day before your appointment with your pick-up time.
ALL SCHEDULING FOR TRANSPORTATION MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE. This must be done at least Forty-Eight hours prior to your VA appointment.
Phone, 740-652-7920
If you or the VA cancels any of your appointments please advise this office so we can take you off our schedule to make room for others. THE VA DOES NOT NOTIFY THIS OFFICE WHEN THEY CHANGE YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT.
The van driver is a employee of the county, and is paid by the Veterans Service Commission. Therefore, you are not obligated to pay the driver in any way for his time or services.
Please be advised that if you receive travel pay from the VA, for your scheduled appointment, we strongly recommend that you inform the travel section at the VA that you were provided transportation by this office, and that you DO NOT collect travel pay from the Department of Veterans Affairs. To do so is to commit fraud, and under federal law you could be punished.
All veterans will be picked-up for their appointments at their place of residence. They will be returned to their place of residence upon return from their appointments. The Veterans Service Office, MUST approve any exceptions to this procedure.
